92Y Poetry Main Reading Series: http://bit.ly/bI9t6O In the 1980s, Maxine Hong Kingston and Leslie Marmon Silko traveled through China together. They reunited at the Poetry Center on January 31 to read from their new memoirs, I Love a Broad Margin to My Life (Kingston) and The Turquoise Ledge (Silko). Said Ms. Silko about Ms. Kingston: "She is one of our best writers, [displaying] the generosity of spirit and the luminous prose we so urgently need in this time of war after war." Said Ms. Kingston about Ms. Silko: "To read [Silko] is to hear the voices of the ancestors and spirits telling us where we came from, who we are, and where we must go." Unterberg Poetry Center webcasts and access to our archive are made possible in part by the generous support of the Sidney E. Frank Foundation.
