TSTT Workers On The Breadline - Company Proposes Job Cuts For "Redundant" Positions (Update)

Several persons are to be retrenched at the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT). A letter dated November 12th 2018 addressed to Clyde Elder, Secretary General of the Communications Workers' Union (CWU), outlined a list of proposed positions at the company that are to be made redundant. It follows a meeting between the union and the company at the end of October to discuss TSTT's new business model. Some of these positions include: AC Power Systems Engineer Broadband Technician Customer Service Rep 1, 2 and 3 Fraud Analyst Graphic Artist Heavy Vehicle Driver Internet Service Rep Labourer Central Office Engineer Painter Pay Station Attendant The union has been against the way in which the company is handling its rebrand to the TSTT Group of Companies and had been granted an injunction, putting a pause to TSTT's plans.
