Priya fell in love with electronics at the age of 12 in her father's workshop. Since then she has been making and breaking analog circuits at home. She rediscovered her passion in college while exploring the open hardware tool Arduino. She soon met like-minded people and co-founded 9circuits.com, an online shop selling electronic components in India. 9circuits later partnered with Yahoo! Open Hack to introduce hardware hacking for the first time in India. She currently works with the Arduino team, taking care of the official Arduino blog, writing lessons for scuola , and managing internal projects, the latest being a soon-to-be-launched Arduino store in India. She's even managed to find time to pursue her dream of getting more women involved in technology, including contributing to Systers in 2010′s Google Summer of Code . Adept at solving problems, from changing a car's tyres to looking into its engine, she practices taekwondo and plays computer games in her spare time.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
