I needed a training tool to help rehab and strengthen my lower back, and this is what I cam up with. Hyperextensions seem to concentrate too much of the work in one small area in the sacral region of my lower back. This exercise distributes the load over the spinal erectors evenly. By manipulating the lever arm lengths, I was able to get the effective load to feel just right throughout the range of motion. I get a crazy pump in my erectors from this.
