After losing one of the road island reds....we decided we really wanted more egg layers. So we took a trip to the garden center and brought home two tiny barred rock chicks who appeared quite miffed when we took them out of the box!! Poor birdies! Even as it got dark the one refused to go into the coop. He stood outside frozen like a statue...ahhhhh:( Finally my husband placed him in the coop and yes he stayed. The meat birds feel in love with the newbies and took them under their wings! One even sat on both of them to keeo them warm!! Ahhhhh.
