As some of you already know, I had knee surgery a little while back... I'm fully back on board, and I figured i'd update with some tricks and some cruising. This isn't the first filming I've done since getting back, as i have a few tricks in the upcoming Slap Pals video (our second one). Anyway, rather than dropping hammers, I prefer to drop soft rubber mallets. Instead of shredding the gnar, I shave the burly. Rather than bust out with the ill shiz, I like to gently introduce the shiz that isn't running high fever. If any of that makes sense, you're probably as dumb as I am. ...and as dumb as skating is (which is a good thing). WAT MAN? WHY DO U SAI DAT SK8NG IS DUM?!?!?!! ...I say that because it's the truth. Skateboard tricks don't make you smart, they're just fun to do. I skate nearly every day, and I take pleasure in my ignorant bliss. I take pleasure in the ignorant bliss of my fellow skateboarders as well... because we "know." Forget style, forget sponsorship, forget what other people think and flip off people that think you need to skate a certain way. Skateboarding isn't about how long your list of tricks is, it's about how happy it makes you. I've said pretty much the same thing before, but it bears repeating... skate and be stupid. Skateboarding should never be something that causes you to stress out, it should be a mindless activity that actually helps balance out all of the stressful bullshit you deal with in the real world. Oh yeah, this was filmed the day before the United States elected Barack Obama for President. McCain is a good man, a hero even, but I have to say that I'm glad Barack won, and he easily earned my vote. I don't typically go into politics in my YouTube commentary, but I'll say this: I don't take joy in "beating" the Republicans, I'm just glad that we have a Constitutional scholar as our President-elect. Rather than be partisan, let's be part of something. I've always felt lucky to have been born and raised in the US, but I really feel an incredible sense of optimism that I never have before, politically speaking. Cheers to my Republican, Democrat, Green Party, Libertarian, and every other third party out there (though you Prohibition Party guys are a little on the kooky side). I hope we can work together and meet the ideals our nation has always had. It'll be nice to have the United States as a member of the global community again. It'll be nice to not be hated by our allies anymore... we share this world, so let's move forward and see if we can change for the better. We're all in this together. Let's be awesome.
