A hike to Hickory Branch Falls and beyond starting at the Curtis Creek Campground in Pisgah National Forest, NC.

The Hickory Branch Trail leaves the Curtis Creek Campground heading east following the gentle Hickory Branch. The waterfall is an easy ~1 mile hike from the campground. It is around 30 feet and situated in a beautiful setting despite the massive fallen tree. The creek is small though, so it's best to see it after some good rain.

Beyond the waterfall is unknown territory to most hikers. It was my intent to take the trail all the way to Lead Mine Gap and follow the Lead Mine Gap Trail north to Buckeye Knob. Needless to say, if you watch this video you'll realize how much I hated this hike. The trail is massively overgrown. I was pushing my way through shrubs and vines for hours. There were no views on this hike although I've read Buckeye Knob had panoramic views. I explored beyond the peak and still found nothing, turning around defeated and frustrated. My advice, hike to the waterfall and turn around.

Hike distance was ~7.2 miles in 5 hours and 45 minutes.
