The ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex research to non-specialist audiences is a vital skill for all graduate students. The Statewide Three Minute Thesis Competition required UO graduate students to do just that. The 2017 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Statewide Finals took place, Saturday, May 20th at the University of Oregon. For the first time in the history of the competition Graduate Students took first place and people’s choice. Saul Propp from the Department of Physics  took first place with his riveting performance of "Electron Vortices: The Atomic Blender" and Annie Caruso from the Department of Anthropology won the People's Choice with "Decolonizing a University of Oregon Archaeological Excavation in the Southern Caribbean".
