Diplomatic efforts to free Durham University PhD researcher Matthew Hedges (left), 31, are being led by Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt amid an outcry after he was jailed earlier this week. And the UAE raised hopes this morning that he could be freed, as it considered his family's 'request for clemency'. Sulaiman Hamid Almazroui, the UAE ambassador to the UK, said he was 'hopeful that an equitable solution can be reached' in Mr Hedges's case. But Mr Hedges's wife Daniela Tejada (left, with her husband; and right, pictured today) said she was unimpressed by the country's officials insisting there has been due process in her husband's case.
