While driving home from Ossining a few nights back, I was listening to my scanner and heard the Metro North dispatcher call out to CSX Train Q431, the nightly southbound freight from Selkirk Yard to Oak Point Yard, that he had a third rail hit on the detector at MP48 and that he was supposed to come to a stop at Cortlandt to have it fixed.  Being in Ossining, I wasn't that far away, so I zipped up Route 9 to Cortlandt Station and got there just in time, as he was rounding the bend just north of the platform, which forced me to stay in the parking lot, as I would not have had enough time to get onto the platform.  I was in for a surprise: the only 2 SD40-2's that are cleared for Oak Point that were still in Conrail paint were doing the job.  Tonight's consist is SD40-2's 8840 (Conrail Quality) on the point and 8844 (Conrail) in the middle with GP38-2 2793 and a 119 car mixed freight.  Unfortunately, the train cannot be seen in its entirety due to the fact that somewhere along the line, someone had to come off the train and fix the problem, which later on I heard over the scanner was a low bleeder rod.
