As the afternoon drawls into evening, the Howrah WAP4 drives the 12273 Howrah New Delhi Duronto Express through the Chhota Nagpur Plateau, towards Parasnath. After Gomoh, the gigantic Parasnath Hills aligns itself with the Asansol Mughal Sarai grand chord. Towering over the Chhota Nagpur Plateau at well over 4,000 feet, the hill range imposes itself on its surroundings, leaving no doubt as to its undisputed position as the highest peak of the Chhota Nagpur Plateau and the highest hill range in Jharkhand. Curiously, the Parasnath station is quite a distance away from the Parasnath hills. In this video, the Duronto charges through the Chhota Nagpur Plateau at around 90 kmph, decelerates and subsequently accelerates towards Parasnath. Being the monsoons, the entire plateau is tinged in various shades of green, making it an absolute delight to the eyes. Interestingly, a number of people can be seen lined up by the tracks, waiting to catch a glimpse of the Duronto. Note in particular the group of women at duration 0:50, who lounge by the side of the tracks and relish the crossing of the Duronto.
