Snow blankets mountain counties on the Tennessee border, putting highway crews to work after yesterday's storm. I-26 had only two lanes open early this morning but the highway is now open and traffic is moving with no problems.As much as two inches fell in the Wolf Laurel area and it's still snowing in the Sam's Gap section of I-26.The rain changed to snow in the northern half of Madison County and made roads slick through mid-morning.Highway crews have concentrated on the major roads through the county and are still clearing slush on the back roads.Chris Deaton, NCDOT District Engineer, Some of them, especially along the Tennessee line are still fairly snow-covered, but all the main secondary roads, the collector roads, all of those should be open right now, and we're working on the side roads as we speak.Snow depths reached as much as four inches in Shelton Laurel and communities in the north.
