This is a test of Poor Man's Process mixed with real driving. An example was shot here with a Pontiac Trans-Am, a Nikon, Christmas lights, and some projection. This was all shot in 2 nights, and for what I was trying to pull off, it worked. For the 100mph closeup that was a photo of the car's speedometer, the end of a comb standing in for the needle, and a simple red disco light simulating the flash of the street lights. I wanted the lights to be moving in all of the scenes. There is also a shot with some Christmas lights standing in for street lights. The sound does all of the work, although my sync was off. Also there is a frame out of place that throws the edit off as well. Poor man's process. This term generally refers to interior vehicle scenes. It describes a situation where a stage is used – and sometimes green screen – to simulate a moving vehicle. The vehicle will be stationary and the actors will act out the scene while a footage will be projected behind the vehicle to make it look like it’s in motion. This is much cheaper than blocking off a road, setting up a car mount, with insert car and filming outside.
