Edward Ji is a writer and a prisoner at the Ferguson Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Midway, Texas. His poem, “Random Tuesday,” was awarded Second Place in Poetry in PEN America’s 2016 Prison Writing Contest and is read by Emanuel Xavier, This reading was selected from submissions entered in an annual writing contest for prisoners, hosted by the PEN America Prison Writing Program, which recognizes the power of creative expression as a form of liberation and inspiration for the audience.
