Those of you have been subscribed to me for a long time will remember this as being my favorite BNSF engine for its very unusual horn. It's a Leslie with bells 25, 37, and 44. It doesn't have an official designation, but the closest thing to it is the RS3P, so that's what I've called it. I went over to Indiana and Michigan for siren tests, when I get a message from Bill about this engine leaving South Bend heading west. I was heading up to Michigan at that point so I figured I'd missed it. I spent a little while up there photographing crossings, when I decided to head back south early to see if I could find this train, since I knew it would head to Kankakee. I thought it was going to be a wild goose chase, but I found him sitting under I-80 in Highland and got there just as he was pulling away from a crew change. Note too that the 3rd engine has a Prime 990 with its original power chambers.
