Proposal: Acquire Core Sample of Ocean Floor before subduction zone leading to known oil field. Determine age and type of material found in core sample. Pressurize and Flash Cook the contents of the core sample to produce biocrude oil. Use that data to estimate how much potential oil is produced at the rate in which the ocean floor enters the subduction zone. Calculate a regional estimate, followed by a global estimate of oil production that can be used as a starting point as future core samples may augment the estimate.

Side Proposal: See if there is a connection between the content of the core sample and the quality of oil produced. (Example: Oil is considered "sweet" because of less sulfur content)
