This video recorded 14 November 2010 at Birmingham Town Hall. I first saw Tom on this very stage in October 1967, a few days after Woody Guthrie died and he played a moving memorial to Woody I can still remember all these years later. Tom Paxton was 30 years old the first time I saw him, he is now 73 and as brilliant as ever. Tom is a survivor of Greenwich Village in the 1960s and had stories to tell of such famous venues as The Gaslight and people who performed there like Mississippi John Hurt to whom this song is dedicated. Tom is accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Robin Bullock Unfortunately the media card in my usually trusty Sony Bloggie failed this evening and I lost several songs which cannot now it seems be retrieved, so here is a less than perfect recording done on my even smaller back-up Olympus 'Stylus 750'. Better than nothing though I think so please enjoy the legendary Mr Paxton in concert
