Portsmouth FC have thrown their support behind a Portsmouth community hub which is hoping to paint a brighter future after reaching the final of a national competition.

Pompey Place, on Anson Road, is one of four finalists competing for the makeover prize in the Johnstone’s Paint Community Spirit campaign.
And now the hub is hoping to come out on top in a public vote to win the competition, which has been run in conjunction with the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Community projects around the UK were invited to submit applications to the competition, with the winner receiving a redecoration of their facility.

More than 50 entries from projects around the UK were received, with a judging panel selecting four for the shortlist based on criteria such as the impact the project has on the community and the urgency for redecoration.

Pompey Place is an extension of the work done by Pompey in the Community and will support hundreds of people of all ages each week and be used as a community hub for education, social action and training.

Anyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw from which the winner will receive a pair of tickets to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley on March 22.
