I'm often asked about my raw editor workflow for film photography, and why it's better than using scanned jpegs. In a nutshell, there's far greater control over image detail and data recovery in the shadow and highlight areas. The level of control is akin to an actual darkroom and far exceeds the level of control afforded by a scan. This video attempts to illustrate some of what makes digitizing film with a DSLR so powerful a tool for photographers.
