Attempt by Dutch man to lower his age rejected

(3 Dec 2018) A Dutch motivational speaker Emile Ratelband who is trying to legally change his age had his case rejected by a district court on Monday. But Ratelband, who wants to alter his age from 69 to 49, is undeterred as he described the verdict as "fantastic" as it gives him many angles to appeal. He said he is the first of "thousands" of people who want to change their age and many of them have been in touch with him since the case gained worldwide attention. Ninke de Waele, press officer for Arnhem district court, said the main reason Ratelband's case was rejected was that a person's age gives them certain rights and duties, such as the ability to vote, and allowing someone to change their age would render those rights "meaningless".
