After a federal disaster declaration, disaster survivors may be able to receive limited financial assistance for immediate or critical needs. [Transcript:] Survivors applying for disaster assistance who were forced to leave their home as a result of a federally declared disaster may be eligible to receive limited financial assistance to meet their immediate or critical needs. Critical Needs Assistance (CNA) may be available if your state, territory, or tribe has requested this type of assistance. It is meant to help you buy life-saving and life-sustaining items, such as water, food, first aid, prescriptions, infant formula, diapers, personal hygiene items, and gas for transportation. Other eligible items include durable medical equipment and consumable medical supplies. When you register for disaster assistance, FEMA will ask if you have any disaster related critical or emergency needs. If you are eligible for CNA, you will receive a one-time $500 payment for your household.
