Ida Devine’s health card was recently refused at a Barrhaven walk-in clinic when she sought treatment for an infected abscess on her leg. The local 91-year-old was forced to pay $62 before the doctor would see her, says her daughter, Maxine McLean, who worries about other elderly people seeking care with old health cards.
