In today's lesson on Chinese grammar, Teacher Dora helps a student learn a useful Mandarin Chinese sentence structure:

去过...几次 (qùguò... jǐ cì)

You can utilize the following structure:

Subject + verb + 过 (guò) + object + number + 次 (cì)

Tā qù guo Běijīng hěn duō cì.
他去过北京很多次.
He has been to Beijing many times.

Tā zhǐ qù guo yī cì.
他只去过一次.
He's only been once.

The particle 过 (guò) is used to talk about past experiences or past actions in Chinese grammar. It is placed immediately after the verb to indicate that that verb was done or experienced in the past.
