Berklee Online is behind the scenes at the Rethink Music conference in Boston with Peter Gotcher, Chairman of Topspin Media. A seasoned Venture Capitalist, Peter offers some quick tips for music entrepreneurs on funding and launching a new project.

Peter Gotcher is an independent venture investor focusing on investments in digital media companies. He is Executive Chairman of Dolby Laboratories and Chairman of Topspin Media, which he co-founded in 2007. Peter founded Digidesign Inc. in 1984 and served as its President, CEO and Chairman through the company's successful Initial Public Offering in December of 1993 (NASDAQ: DGDN). Digidesign was acquired by Avid Technologies in January of 1995, and Peter continued as the General Manager of Digidesign and an EVP of Avid until May 1996. Peter became a technology-focused venture capitalist upon joining Institutional Venture partners as a Venture Partner in 1997. In 1999 he was a founding Venture Partner with Redpoint Ventures. He currently serves as a director of Dolby Labs, Topspin Media, Line6 and Pandora. Peter graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1981.
