Coast Guard Officer Killed In Road Traffic Accident

A Coast Guard Officer is dead following a crash on the Eastbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway near the South overpass. The victim has been identified as 36 year old Kevaughn Diaz. According to reports, around 12:15am on Monday 12th November, a station wagon driven by a man with two other passengers was heading to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt. Hope. The driver missed the turnoff from the highway and tried to reverse. Diaz, who was on his motorcycle, slammed into the rear of the car. The District Medical Officer pronounced him dead on the scene. Officers of the San Juan Fire Station responded and cleared the roadway of debris. Officers attached to the St. Joseph Police Station are continuing investigations. The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard has extended condolences to the family of Mr. Diaz, who had 12 years' service.
