ST. ANTHONY, Idaho -- Fremont County youth involved in the 4-H program had the opportunity to showcase their animals at the Fremont County Fair. “4H has set up their program so that the fair is the final production. It’s where they have to show off their showmanship and the quality of their animal,” said Melinda Rumsey, member of the Fremont County Fair board committee. Chandra Potter, 4-H contestant, stated that she spends a majority of the year training her horse for the horse show. “You have to practice a lot so your horse knows what you’re doing.” Those who qualify in livestock events at the county level will have the opportunity to advance their animals to the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot. The food at the fair is also considered a prize among those who attend. Ramsey said over the last two years they have invited multiple vendors to feature their dishes. “We have, of course the normal burgers and hot dogs. We have one vendor who chooses a different variety of food to specialize everyday,” Rumsey said. Upcoming fairs include the Jefferson, and Madison County fairs. The Jefferson County fair will be held August 11-14, as well as the Madison county Fair held on August 12-15. The Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot is set for September 5-12.
