Ria Koumekawa recounts her experience co-founding DS Kids Club, a community service activity that encourages friendship with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She seeks to remind people that people’s ‘labels’ are not important, and a personal relationship is what matters the most.

In 2014, Ria Koumekawa co-founded DSK, a Jakarta Intercultural School student community service organization which works with a local school for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Down’s syndrome and autism.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
