Kerry in Pakistan : the diplomatic relations back to normal after the drone strikes ? The United States Secretary of State John Kerry visited Pakistan to warm up the diplomatic relations between Washington and Islamabad. Ahmad Majidyar, from the American Entreprise Institutes, considers that these relations have been tense these past years, especially after the death of Osama Bin Laden. The journey of John Kerry is also a way to get to know the new Pakistani civilian government. However, a core issue is to be discussed between the two states : the drones issue, which opposes both countries. Indeed, on the one side, the new civilian government of Pakistan has taken a tough line against drone strikes, seeing it as a disrespect of the national sovereignty, and the United States, considering that the drones are the only way to target terrorist groups and ensure control over the Pakistani territory.
