This video is how a typical practice session for lockpicking went when I was first starting to learn security pins. 

The best thing someone can do is get a lot of different locks so they can try not to pick from muscle memory and only be proficient at the one lock. Their is a difference from being able to pick one lock and locks in general.

The number one key is just keep practicing.
