(17 Nov 2018) Thousands of Czechs rallied against Prime Minister Andrej Babis on Saturday on the anniversary of the 1989 Velvet Revolution.
The protesters gathered on Saturday afternoon in front of the Prague Castle, the seat of presidency and were marching to downtown Old Town Square, demanding the resignation of Babis and his ally, President Milos Zeman.
Babis faces charges that he has misused EU subsidies for a farm he transferred to his family members, including his son, Andrej Babis, Jr.
Babis denies wrongdoing.
The Czech leader been under increased pressure this week after his son told an online news portal he had been deliberately kept in Crimea to avoid being questioned in the case.
Babis denies that, saying his son - who lives in Switzerland and is mentally ill - was there voluntarily.
The Velvet Revolution brought about the end of 41 years of one party rule of the Communist Czechoslovakia.
The one party system was subsequently replaced with a parliamentary one.
