A new short piece made using Reason 4 where I played around with low pass filtering for the first time. I just watched a documentary on the History Channel about the Ancient Alien theory - an alternative explanation of the origin of humans on Earth. Although speculative in nature, it is nonetheless fascinating stuff! With these thoughts in my head (aliens, ufos and ancient glory), this short piece came out. The picture is the path of a magnetic pendulum started at some specified location (green blob) swinging over four fixed magnets, Initially, the trajectories are inertia dominated and appear like a regular pendulum, swinging back and forth, but after sufficient dissipation of energy by friction they eventually become chaotic and unpredictable as the non-linear magnetic force dominates over the gravitational force. By colouring the space based on which magnet the pendulum eventually gets stuck over, a beautiful fractal attractor results!
