I tried to make my first milk soap, and everything that could possibly go wrong, does. My milk and lye mixture separates. I get DOS (dreaded orange spots). And I even start to suspect I have lye pockets in some of my earlier soaps! Even though these are all some pretty big failures, I am still committed to continuing to learn about soap making, and my next batch will be a reset, with trying out hot process soap, to allow the cold process gods some time to forgive me for saying I made perfect soap and cursing me with this failure.
