The office observed that excessive use of force and lethal weapons has left 26 protestors dead and hundreds others injured. UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Kyung-wha Kang, addressing the UN Human Rights Council, called on the Yemen government to conduct independent investigations into alleged human rights violations by government security forces. The Yemen Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abu Bekr Abdullah Al-Qirbi, in a quick response at the council, said his government regretted the killings.
