Team India brought their 4-match winless run against Windies in T20 cricket to a halt as they secured a 5-wicket victory over Carlos Brathwaite and Co in the first T20I of the 3-match series at Eden Gardens on Sunday. India were in for a scare as they had lost 4 wickets for just 45 runs before Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya guided the team to victory. The bounce and carry in the pitch enabled the pace bowlers of both sides some success on the Eden track but the venue of the second T20I – Bharat Ratan Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium – is expected to have more help for spinners. Stand-in Indian captain Rohit Sharma should would want to make the most of the conditions and make progress towards the milestone of becoming the all-time top-scorer in T20Is.
