AsapSCIENCE attempted to use the Prisoner's Dilemma to explain nice guy vs not-so-nice-guys and Tit-for-Tat to explain a "nice guy" strategy for life. Unfortunately, game theory is not really adequate to explain the conundrum, and I have a lot of reservations about the Tit-for-Tat strategy that everyone in the decision theory world seems so crazy about. So in this video, I explore Tit-for-Tat and explain why it fails in real life. On top of this, the Prisoner's Dilemma assumes rationality and mutual knowledge of rationality, which is not life. Most people in this world are only occasionally rational.
