Visiting family in Norway, I walked over to our friend/neighbor's pasture and trained a few sheep with bits of apple. I learned NOT to use a clicker. The sound was too scary. Instead I made a kissy noise. Worked really well. I also found that working through the fence was much better than going in with the sheep because they felt safer. I got baout 7 very reliable targeting sheep (above head, below, sides, follow target). They caught on seemingly instantly. I had my hands full until it started to pour and all but my top 3 students left for shelter. In this video you can see sheep number 30002 targeting and sheep number 20007 spinning. I wish I could visit them again. Sadly 30002 is a male and will be slaughtered before winter. I gave him a happy hour.. Sad. He was so gentle and enthusiastic. That is the risk in clicker-training. You can't help but form a bond with the animal.
