Arizona is in the spotlight. The fast-growing state has witnessed one of the more pronounced real-estate implosions anywhere; a state-federal conflict over border security and immigration enforcement; the distressed closure of public amenities and a spirited primary challenge to the Republican Party's most recent presidential candidate. The state's reality defies stereotype, however, as Arizonans have also provided a sanctuary to thousands of Iraqi and other refugees; passed a ballot measure to raise money for education and funded one of the nation's most ambitious statewide "clean election" laws.
