In this episode of “Street Talk,” JJ Anderson meets with Yesenia Ramirez, a Glendale, California native and talented female skateboarder. Although she has two older brothers, Ramirez realized her love for the sport outside her family, when one day she walked up to a group of skaters and asked if she could give it a shot. With hours of skating behind her, the young athlete was now a regular at Carr Park. Through hours of practice, a sudden tragedy, and a school coming together to pay off the costs for an MRI, Ramirez has withstood the many heartbreaks skaters face, but has managed to persevere through it all with extraordinary strength. Watch the full video to find out just how Yesenia Ramirez uses her skateboard as a mode of transportation and a means to freedom.
