In 2012, a report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that worldwide 7 million deaths occur due to air pollution. In India, air pollution is listed as the fifth largest killer (Lim et al, 2012). The quality of air in a majority of Indian cities exceeds the prescribed standards of air quality. Harmful chemical emissions and particulate matter increase the risk of respiratory and cardiovascular problems.
