Specialist feeders of tiny invertebrates found in sand beds and reef rubble, dragonets can be hard to feed in captivity, unless housed in large mature reef tanks rich in natural prey. In suitably rich surroundings, pairs can be housed together and as well as being larger, males have larger, more ornate first dorsal fins which are used in display.
