This was the first time at Mardi Gras that I had a video camera (thanks, James!). Normally, I’m strictly a photo person, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get parts of this event on video.

I waited until the last two days of carnival season to really make use of the camera and what you’re about to see are three large highlights: Lundi Gras, Royal St. during Mardi Gras and Frenchmen St. on Mardi Gras night. I took a video of the Chewbacchas parade, but that file is so big that it had to be its own YouTube ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUCfUiLrR2E )

If I had any more energy, I would have taken a shot of Rex crossing Canal St. to meet Comus and the final countdown at midnight, but I was hitting the wall through the whole trip that I just sleep through the last two. Oh, well. There’s always next year…..and maybe the one after that.
