What happens if my sponsorship application made from outside of Canada in denied?

There are two things that can go wrong with a sponsorship application for a spouse or common-law partner who lives outside of Canada:
• If the sponsor does not meet the requirements, the outcome depends on whether or not they've checked the box to withdraw the sponsorship application if found ineligible, found in the IMM 1344 Application to Sponsor. If the box was checked, the application is withdrawn, with no right to appeal. If not, the application is sent to a Visa office for processing, and the sponsor can file an appeal.
• If the sponsored person doesn't meet the requirements, CIC will inform them about the reasons and they can file an appeal.
