Sunday Skating: Exploring the Boring

My friend Kerry met up with me in the east side of Hammond (Louisiana) were we spent some time skating some parking lots. Kerry's still recouping from some injuries, so later into the session he picked up the camera and did some filming. I called this "Exploring the Boring" and put the "Serious 'Binniss" in here as a joke... if you have a hard surface (even really bad concrete) you have a place to skate. We have a ton of legit spots and parks around here, but there's something special about being able to go to a typical cookie-cutter business street and finding ways to enjoy not-so-amazing spots. I mean, the spots aren't amazing, but you can still have an amazing time. As skateboarders, manipulating ourselves and our boards around different terrains is what it's all about... from the perfect ramps to the lumpiest parking lots, skating is an exploration. We see things in architecture that regular people just don't see... which is a concept I find to be really cool. Most regular civilians don't notice how smooth their curbs are, the little hips hiding in plain sight, or a number of other things we notice and (hopefully) get to exploit.
