Hugo is the kind of person who doesn't like to ask for help. But when problems with his health became too much to bare on his own, Hugo turned to San Antonio AIDS Foundation for assistance. "I didn’t ask for help until I could not carry my own body," says Hugo. "So at the point that I decided, yes I need to have help, it was just because I could no longer function as a person. So at that point I was kind of forced to ask for help." When he first visited the Foundation's dining hall, he was surprised to learn he could receive more than just a healthy meal: "The first time that I went to this meal program, I see this, this community, and I see something that's happening other than putting food in your mouth, you know people are sharing their lives and their getting together and they're having disagreements and they're having laughs and you go, wow, this is about more than just food."
