In his Daily Take, Thom Hartmann shows a clip of Fox and Friends mocking an ad by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and saying that Obama is "trying to buy votes with food stamps." They ask Stuart Barney if the U.S. can afford to be giving more food stamps, to which he replies, "of course you cannot afford it." Thom says that when Fox uses this rhetoric, they are pushing for austerity. He pushes back against this idea with a study from Moody's showing that each dollar spent on food stamps, gives back a dollar and 73 cents, showing that food stamps actually stimulate the economy.
