I don't often take requests but I sometimes take suggestions. For me, even a fairly simple song takes more than a little bit of time and effort to learn and practice to the point where I can play it straight through without any major malfunctions. In general, I really need to be into a song to cover it. Not too long ago, B17b25guy left a comment on my "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" video suggesting I cover this song by Nick Lowe, as Ian Dury's bassist, Norman Watt-Roy, played bass on it as well. I listened to it and liked it right away. It's a weird little song. Well, it's more like two weird little songs as you'll hear if you listen to it. Something else that might be of interest is yet another piece of aftermarket hardware I've added to the Ric in my never-ending quest to make it a proper playing instrument. It's a zero-mod thumb-rest that uses the top two existing screw holes of the pick guard to mount it. I used to rest my thumb on the pick guard's edge but this is much more comfortable and makes it easier to move my plucking hand position around in order to find the sweet spot. I think it's a pretty nifty device.
