On the 9th of December 2010, I give a talk to church leaders, concerned Christians, and the public about why my painting is not blasphemy. Is it art, or is it blasphemy? The public has their say. In this video, I’m taking you inside the heated public debate surrounding my painting, the "Tasmanian Devil Last Supper." After being rejected by church leadership, the conversation moved to the public square, sparking a massive discussion about religious iconography, wildlife conservation, and the role of the artist in modern society. I’ll share highlights from the debate, the most challenging questions I faced, and why I believe that connecting the sacred with the natural world is a vital form of expression. This isn't just about a painting; it's about the freedom to create and the power of art to challenge our perspectives. In this video, we explore: The core arguments for and against the painting. My live defense of the "Tasmanian Devil Last Supper." The surprising reactions from the community and art critics. What this experience has taught me about the "Snake Artist" mission. The debate got intense, but I believe these conversations are where real growth happens. I’d love to hear your thoughts after watching—do you think art should have "no-go" zones? 🕒 Storybook Chapters: 0:00 - Entering the Lion's Den 1:50 - The Opening Arguments: Why the Outrage? 4:10 - My Defense: Nature as Sacred 6:30 - Heat from the Crowd: Tough Questions 8:45 - Finding Common Ground (or Not) 11:20 - The Aftermath: Where Do We Go From Here?
