Barroso Gets Approval of 53% of European Parliament

A total of 382 members out of the 718 European Parliament members on Wednesday voted in favor of a second term for Jose Manuel Barroso as President of the European Commission. That's a majority of 53 percent. Some 218 MEPs voted against Barroso, while 117 abstained. Translation from Portuguese: "Mr President, honourable Members , First and foremost I would like to express my warm thanks to you for this expression of enormous confidence in me.
