Dumping Debt Fridays is where we come together every Friday and I answer your financial questions or give you a LIVE update on my monthly budget. Financial Q&A's are where I originally fell in love with budgeting and couldn't learn enough, I used to watch my favorite channels like Budget Girl, Gazelle Intents and Debt is Dumb just to name a few. I learned so much from these Q&As and received many requests to start my own weekly Q&A answering your Dave Ramsey and budget-related questions. Please leave any questions you have in a comment below AND if you have a MONEY WIN please share that with me as well! I absolutely LOVE celebrating your money wins! Any suggestions for me? As I do feel that I spend less with cash arthrodea So.... I'm trying to do cash only this week for the first time! How do you handle payments for internet and utilities and cell phone? I have them linked to my credit card because then I get the.... um... cash back on the card (oh dear, I learned Dave Ramsey's feelings on this strategy by credit companies) I am extremely meticulous about paying off my cards each week (I don't even wait for the month, because I don't want to rack up debt). But its easier for me as far as making sure it gets paid on time vs making sure I send in a check on time. Also, do you pay for gas with a debit or credit card? Or is that part of your miscellaneous? That's another thing I get cash back on with the credit card. I'm trying to target things i probably overspend on and convert to cash only for those things. But gas for the car and utilities/cell phone/internet seem "ok" to pay with a credit card, assuming I pay it off right away, since those are fairly consistent and necessary expenses that I can't really overspend because I get tempted somehow. What is your opinion (and anyone who is reading opinion)? Breezy's Kitchen If I put money in the clothes category it is because I have an item in mind that someone actually needs that month. If you put $30 in a month and you don't actually need it can I ask how you have the discipline to not just put that $30 into a different category (like restaurants say!) and spend it. This is the hardest thing. Not that I EVER have any money left. Lyn Morris Great answers as always Kelly. Another thing to consider for sinking funds if thinking about appliances etc - even if they are currently working well - consider how old they are. While a 2 or 3 year old fridge should still have a lot of life in it, one that is closer to 10 years old could easily stop working so well.
