United Nations, New York, 15 June 2009 - Following the opening session of the Forum on Advancing Global Health in the Face of the Crisis, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has told the press that this latest global influenza pandemic reminds us of our vulnerability and the need for a global response. Also, according to Mr Ban, the health challenges the world currently faces show the ineffectiveness of isolation. Mr Ban and the Director-General of the World Health Organisation Dr Margaret Chan, have called for global health unity, saying that whether we are talking about building stronger economic ties or achieving the Millenium Development Goals, "health ties it all together".
